THE BUTTERFLY HOUSE
Casa delle Farfalle is a unique journey into biodiversity, a place where you can immerse yourself in the magic of nature and discover the delicate balance that governs it.
Your experience begins with I fili invisibili della natura (The invisible threads of nature), a short video that explains how important it is to preserve ecosystems and their richness. Immediately afterwards, passing through the mouth of a giant praying mantis, you enter the Insect House, an amazing pavilion that houses beetles, giant cockroaches, leaf insects, mantises and many other curious species from all over the world, as well as a live beehive and a giant anthill.
Casa delle Farfalle is also a botanical garden, with a path dedicated to pine forest plants and Il Bruco, a small greenhouse created in collaboration with the University of Bologna to learn about local butterflies. In addition, since 2024, there has been Il mistero del bombo scomparso (The Mystery of the Missing Bumblebee), an interactive trail consisting of riddles, games and puzzles for adults and children, exploring environments such as the winding path, the playful clearing, the middle grove and the flowery meadow. It is an engaging experience to help the friends of the meadow find Rimbo, the missing bumblebee.
The most evocative part of the trail is the Tropical Greenhouse, over 500 square metres of real rainforest. Here you can walk among exotic plants and spectacular butterflies from Asia, Africa and America, while a chameleon and lively parakeets also appear among the foliage.

A guided tour of about an hour with our staff to learn more about butterflies, insects and biodiversity. By selecting the days below, at 3.30 p.m., you can choose the “guided tour” option.
INFORMAZIONI ACCESSIBILITA'
Tutto il complesso è ben curato, sia i percorsi esterni di collegamento, che le aree interne. Tutti i percorsi sono senza ostacoli e ogni ambiente chiuso ha un’entrata ed un’uscita, così da agevolare la visita. La serra della Casa delle Farfalle ha una pavimentazione compatta e ben visibile, grazie al contrasto cromatico; si raccomanda di non toccare le farfalle e soprattutto attenzione a dove metti i piedi! I cani non possono entrare e si sconsiglia anche l’ingresso ai cani guida, a causa di vegetazione, che se mangiata, può creare disturbi all’animale. La casa degli insetti dispone di ambienti ampi, così come la biglietteria, dove puoi trovare lo snack bar e i due servizi igienici attrezzati, uno per donne e uno per uomini; in quello delle donne è disponibile anche un fasciatoio.
La parte esterna è in erba ed i percorsi sono caratterizzati da materiale compatto. Nei sentieri del Percorso Botanico ci sono pannelli informativi sulla flora, scritti in macro caratteri ad un’altezza massima di 90 cm.
