THE PARKS BETWEEN RAVENNA AND CERVIA
Just under 75 km for a round-trip, with departure and arrival points in Ravenna, which skirts the coast and becomes lost in the enchanting natural scenery provided by the Pineta di Classe pine forest and the Cervia Nature Park.
From Ravenna town centre, you can quickly reach the heart of the Pineta di Classe pine forest in a short time. This is a nature reserve of the Po Delta Regional Park which, together with the one in Cervia, represents the remains of the oldest pinewood in Ravenna, and is inhabited by various species of birds such as the Great Tit, the Magpie and the Long-eared Owl.
Several dirt roads and here we are in the Cervia Nature Park, an oasis set in 32 hectares of greenery within the 1000-year-old Milano Marittima pine forest. From here the cycle ride continues to the marvellous scenery provided by the Etruscan salt pans and canals, still in operation today, interspersed with narrow streets and typical “casoni” (fishermen's huts). The return journey to Ravenna is then along internal roads.
