THE ECOMUSEUM OF SALT AND THE SEA

The Ecomuseum of Salt and the Sea derived from the desire of an entire community to give value to its local landscape, its history and its future. The ancient "city of salt", the old "fishermen's village" and the vast expanses of the centuries-old pine forest have been transformed in accordance with a tourist development that has been carried out in a pioneering way since the end of the 19th century and has had a decisive boost thanks to the foundation, in 1912, of the "garden city" of Milano Marittima, built on the edge of the centuries-old pine forest.

With the establishment of the Ecomuseum, the community intends to take care of both its territory and its wealth. The process of the development of the Ecomuseum of Salt and the Sea takes place through the participatory construction of landscape maps, the overlapping of which will result in the community map.
