Delta del Po

The Visitor Centre is the starting point for guided tours on foot, by bike and by electric boat inside the Cervia Salt-works, the southern gateway and station of the Po Delta Park. Of Etruscan origin and still in operation, it has numerous stretches of water of varying degrees of salinity and overgrown mudflats, separated by a network of low banks with halophilous vegetation.

The Salt-works extend parallel to the coast covering a surface area of 827 hectares and are considered an environment of remarkably high naturalistic and landscape interest, so much so that it was included in the Ramsar Convention as a Wetland of International Importance; since 1979, it has been a State Nature Reserve for animal species. Inside the Visitor Centre, there is a path of knowledge that allows you to have an insight into both the historical and economic issues relating to the production of salt, as well as the naturalistic aspects characterising the environment of the Salt-works.
