THE CIVIC MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY IN FERRARA

The Civic Museum of Natural History in Ferrara is located in the historic centre of the Este city and is the first natural history museum in the Emilia-Romagna region to be developed in line with the eco-museum system model that integrates exhibition areas as well as teaching and documentation centres.

It is also one of the 109 regional museums that, at the beginning of 2010, obtained recognition as a "Museum of Quality" from the Emilia-Romagna Institute for Cultural Heritage. The museum houses hundreds of thousands of exhibits and provides visitors with an opportunity to see a wide range of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, birds, invertebrates and insects. There are also important collections of fossils, minerals and rocks.
