From the ancient port of Classe to the mouth of the Bevano

Museo NatuRA

A journey through the history, nature and landscapes of the Ravenna area.
From the ruins of the Ancient Port of Classe, once the heart of trade in the Mediterranean, we’ll cycle through the picturesque Classe Pine Forest to the mouth of the River Bevano, amongst dunes, footpaths and biodiversity, discovering places rich in history and beauty.

Event organised as part of the Responsible Tourism Festival.

A half-day to discover the treasures of Ravenna, starting from the Ancient Port. Here, one can sense the movement of trade routes, exchanges and encounters. We’ll begin with a guided tour of this site, situated near the magnificent former sugar factory in Classe, where we’ll explore how land and sea have shaped not only the landscape, but also the identity and history of Ravenna. We’ll continue by bike, accompanied by an environmental hiking guide, through the Pineta di Classe, the ‘divine, dense and living forest’ celebrated by Dante and loved by Boccaccio and Byron. Amidst dunes, clearings and shady paths, we’ll reach the picturesque mouth of the Bevano, one of the most unspoilt and precious spots on the Adriatic coast – a paradise for lovers of birdwatching and biodiversity. We’re scheduled to return at 1.00 pm.
