Delta del Po

On the occasion of National Water Day, we will walk together through the Salina, canals, and pine forest to the dunes of Milano Marittima, in the Cervia Pinewood SAC of the Po Delta Park. A route open to all and sundry, amidst stories of water and salt, biodiversity and birdlife, to feel part of nature and the territory.

We will welcome participants at the Cervia Salt Pan, one of the most precious wetlands in the Po Delta Park, where stretches of water, embankments and ancient salt roads tell stories of nature and people.

After a brief introduction, we will start together on a walk of about 12 km through the salt marsh, canals and pine forest, to the dunes of Milano Marittima, in the Cervia Pine Forest SAC.

We will cross different but profoundly connected landscapes: the brackish waters inhabited by birds, the canals that preserve the balance of the lagoon, the cool shade of the pine forest, and the breath of the sea on the dunes. It will be a slow and shared journey among biodiversity and birdlife, among emotions and silences, accompanied by the story of the ancient salt civilisation that has shaped Cervia's identity.

We will stop to observe, listen and marvel, rediscovering the territory with respect and awareness.

During the excursion, we will explore topics related to biodiversity and transitional ecosystems between land and water, with particular attention to the avifauna, which find here a privileged habitat for resting, nesting and wintering. There will be no lack of references to the millenary history of the "salt civilisation", Cervia's identifying element, which has shaped the territory, economy and local culture.

We will conclude around 1 p.m. with a convivial moment and a taste of the Bisaccia del Viandante, to share smiles, stories, and the beauty of the journey together.
