An immersive walk in the magical San Vitale pine forest where we will be enveloped by the scent of the forest and the silence of nature. At the end, we will warm ourselves with a glass of steaming mulled wine, freshly prepared in front of Cà Vecchia's large lit fireplace. The Pineta di San Vitale is home to a remarkable variety of plant species, with characteristics that clearly differ from those of the Pineta di Classe.
The shrubs that predominate along the paths of the pine forest are those typical of the continental climate, such as privet, priest's cap, blackthorn and hawthorn. Of particular interest is the widespread presence of the barberry, a shrub that is rare in other areas. Where shrubs are less dense, bramble tends to proliferate.
Within the forest structure there are periodically flooded areas, elements of naturalness that probably also existed in historical pine forests, characterised by hygrophilous vegetation. These areas support a precious and rare biodiversity, which, with proper management of water supplies, integrates with the nearby wetlands of the Ravenna area (such as Punte Alberete, Valle Mandriole, Bardello, Pialassa Baiona).
